HibernX robotic storage and handling system

Advanced automation for frozen plasma storage

HibernX uses reusable trays or disposable cardboard boxes to store individual plasma units on specially designed compact shelving. Access to the shelves is provided by a robotic XYZ coordinate handling system, which facilitates loading and unloading via a buffer carousel. The integrated comprehensive control software manages all storage processes and monitors temperature and other critical environmental conditions.

This software offers easy integration with existing LIMS, ensuring precise and automated sample management. Temperature stability and uniformity are guaranteed by an energy-efficient redundant refrigeration system, equipped with a CO2 backup system to protect the frozen plasma storage environment.

HibernX: Automated solution for long-term plasma storage

The world's first automated -30°C storage system

Developed to meet the growing demand for medium- and long-term plasma storage, HibernX is the first fully automated solution for -30°C plasma storage. This system perfectly meets the needs of blood transfusion centers, plasma collection centers, and hospital blood banks. Plasma units can be retrieved in minutes based on specific criteria such as donation ID, quarantine status, blood type, or donation date. Furthermore, HibernX allows for the separate storage of quarantined and ready-to-use material, facilitating optimal management of plasma samples.

Advantages of the HibernX series

Optimized performance and easy plasma sample management

HibernX offers a range of benefits that simplify and optimize the frozen plasma storage process:

  • Streamlined workflow : Reduced manual handling through full automation.
  • Convenient storage : Rapid access to samples in an environment above 0°C.
  • High-throughput individual or batch access : Maximum flexibility for sample management.
  • Highest storage density : Space optimization to store more units.
  • Superior energy performance : Reduced operating costs while maintaining optimal efficiency.
  • Unrivaled temperature uniformity and stability : Guaranteed stable climate conditions for all samples.

HibernX series storage capacities

Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse plasma storage needs

HibernX is designed to adapt to the specific needs of each institution, with storage capacities ranging from 10,000 to over 200,000 plasma units (300 ml bags). The system can also be configured for storing 600 to 800 ml plasmapheresis units, as well as 100 ml pediatric doses. This flexibility ensures that every configuration is tailored to the unique requirements of plasma centers and blood banks.

HibernX system storage conditions

Two climate zones for secure plasma storage

The unique LiCONiC chest freezer design for the HibernX series creates two distinct climate zones: one for active components at -30°C and another for passive elements at -20°C, ensuring stable horizontal temperature layers. This design ensures optimal stability for stored plasma, regardless of external disturbances.
