FAQS : Sample Storage
FAQS
What is the smallest capacity of your Biobank at -80°C ?
The smallest automated sample storage system at -80°C, the STT 1.5K ULT, has a capacity of 49,920 1 mL tubes, or 520 racks of 96 tubes. By using smaller 300 µL tubes, for example, the capacity is increased to 122,800 tubes.
What is the largest capacity of your Biobank at -80°C?
LiCONiC builds the Biobank on demand, according to the required capacity. There is no capacity limit. Among the systems already produced is the STC 101k0-ULT.
This automated sample storage system at -80°C has a capacity of 3.6 million 1 mL tubes, or 38,400 racks of 96 tubes each. By using high-density (HD) racks, the capacity is increased by more than 40%, reaching 5.5 million tubes.
Can tube formats be mixed in an automated sample storage biobank?
Yes, indeed. It is possible to mix several types of cassettes of different heights within the automated sample storage system. Thus, it is possible to mix everything from very small 300 µL tubes to 2 mL tubes.
